Operations Manager
exempt from overtime
Under the general supervision of the General Manager/Owner, position is responsible for the hiring,
Training and Supervision of the tasting Room Coordinator, Tasting room
Attendants and Bistro servers while managing the overall Tasting room operations
for Potomac point Winery.
Responsibilities include:
- Hiring,
Training and Supervision of the Tasting Room Coordinator, Tasting Attendants and
Bistro servers while adhering to the prevailing federal and state employment
laws;
- Develops
and implements policies, procedures and training programs to communicate and
monitor tasting room and dining expectations and staff responsibility;
- Manages
the day- to- day operations of Tasting Room and Bistro to ensure all scheduled
shifts are staffed, entire facility is clean and orderly and the retail
merchandise is stocked for purchase;
- Portrays
the winery’s image in tasting room presentation and delivery of an exceptional
customer experience to every guest;
- Responds
to customer relations and hospitality matters within the Tasting room and all
areas open to public use; Coordinate group tastings and tours, VIP customer
visits etc.;
- Resolve
customer concerns proactively;
- Promote
Wine Club programs by ensuring all staff are knowledgeable about club benefits
and all aspects of club levels;
- Work
closely with Event Coordinator, Wine Maker and Kitchen Manager to ensure high
quality onsite events and customer satisfaction;
- Oversees
all wine and merchandise shipments through the retail area;
- Oversees
tasting room POS system including updates and staff training on registers;
- Ensures
adherence to accounting and inventory procedures, monitors cash and inventory
controls, reconciles cash, maintains opening and closing procedures, prepares
inventory sheets and takes action to correct inaccuracies and deviations.
- Creates
direct marketing and sales strategies to increase profitability;
- Creates
and oversees the budget and marketing plan for the tasting room.
- Festival
and Volunteer oversight;

Responsible for all ABC and TTB reporting
- All other
duties assigned by General Manager/Owner
Minimum Education and Experience
Requirements:
Degree in Hospitality management (wine, retail, restaurant, etc) and 3-5 years
experience in a Tourism Destination Facility or a commensurate amount of
education and experience;
Outstanding customer service skills and abilities;
Impeccable planning skills;
Detail oriented;
Solution oriented when confronted with challenges,
A team focused leadership and management style;
Experience in POS retail system;
Able to train, teach and demonstrate superior customer service skills to
personnel;
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 lbs and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time;
